As a marketer, you're always looking for new ways to grow your email list. It doesn't matter if it's a signup form on your website or you are just asking people to write down their email address in-store or at an event - you just want more! But there's a secret source of new email addresses sitting right in front of you that you're probably not taking advantage of: your Facebook fans and Twitter followers.
If you are like most businesses, the number of people that are on your email list is different than the number of people that follow you on social media, and that makes sense. It's usually easier for people to just hit "Like" or "Follow" than it is to hand over their email address. But now that you've captured their interest on Facebook or Twitter, it's time to get those people over to your email list. So how do you do it?
Use a small incentive. It doesn't matter if it's a free appetizer, an ebook or exclusive access to an event - you need to make it crystal clear why your fans should join your email list and what value they will receive.
Drive people to a landing page. You will need somewhere to drive people so you can capture their email address. This is super easy with the right tools, but there are two things to keep in mind. First, this should not be something you spend all day on. You'll want to find a tool that will let you create a landing page in minutes, not hours. Second, you'll want to keep the form super simple and just collect name and email address. It will be tempting to ask for more information, but the top priority here is to get that email address, and a simple form dramatically increases the conversion rate.
